What Are Porcelain Veneers?
A porcelain veneer is an ultra-thin layer of porcelain that is adhesively bonded to the front of each individual tooth in your smile zone to give you a bright and beautiful smile. And because they are made of porcelain, they reflect light similarly to natural tooth enamel. In addition to correcting cracked and crooked teeth or teeth that have irregular gaps between them, veneers can give your teeth a more aesthetic shape, size, and color. And with this procedure, you can achieve results that might otherwise require several treatments including crowns, bonding, teeth whitening, and even braces.
In Dr. Hamlett's skilled hands, veneers can transform your imperfect teeth into the most naturally beautiful smile possible. Ask Dr. Hamlett if porcelain veneers in Dallas are right for you.
Dental Veneers Procedure
After your initial consultation with Dr. Hamlett where he will examine your teeth and gums to determine your candidacy and you’ll discuss your smile goals, the veneers procedure will generally take about two more visits.
Dr. Hamlett will need to prepare your teeth to receive the veneers. This process requires removing a small amount of tooth enamel that is equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth. Then, we’ll take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to the cosmetic lab that will fabricate your permanent veneers. In the meantime, Dr. Hamlett will place temporaries to protect your teeth and help you adjust to the feeling of having veneers.
Placing Your Veneers
Once your veneers are ready to be applied to your teeth, Dr. Hamlett will first check them for fit and color and to see if you are happy with the results. The veneers will be bonded to your teeth and a special curing light will provide a permanent fix. Your veneers will blend seamlessly with your other teeth for a smile that looks completely natural. Moreover, with porcelain veneers you get quick results—usually only a total of three to four weeks—that are stain resistant, strong and durable and require very little recovery time. You’ll be back to your normal routine—only your smile will be better!
Veneers are a cosmetic dentistry procedure and are not commonly covered by dental insurance. Inquire about dental financing to investigate affordable ways to smile.
